Washing Face is Meditation

Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I see myself through the eyes.

I turn on the water with my hand and listen to the sound of it flowing down with my ears.

I feel the temperature of the water through my hands and adjust it.

I scoop water with my hands and wash my face, feeling the temperature and texture of the water on my skin.

As warm water runs, I breathe in the changing air humidity through my nose and feel it on my skin.

Washing my face and drying off with a towel, I feel the gradual shift from dampness to dryness, experiencing a refreshing change on my skin.

There’s no need to set aside dedicated time for meditation.

Simply observing the unconscious, repetitive act of washing your face in your daily routine can become meditation when done mindfully.
