While we typically walk unconsciously, consciously walking can transform it into the most efficient form of meditation.
I particularly recommend consciously taking slow steps, especially when walking at home.
Instead of walking at a regular pace, take slow steps.
As you lift your foot, say ‘Up’ in your mind. As your foot moves forward, say ‘Go.’ And as your foot touches the ground, say ‘Down.
You can also use ‘Up-Down’ at a slightly faster pace.
The advantage of walking meditation is that you can turn every moment of walking at home into meditation.
Moreover, even in tight spaces, the repetitive back-and-forth movement eliminates spatial constraints.
By incorporating walking meditation into the spaces of our homes, we can effectively integrate meditation into our daily lives.
