Martial Art is Meditation – Part 2

The true “enemy” we face in our daily lives is often not a physical opponent but our own mind.

Like the weather, the mind constantly shifts and fluctuates, influenced by various situations and conditions.

We tend to accept the weather as it is because we recognize it as something beyond our control. But when it comes to the mind, our approach is often quite different.

When we feel good, we cling to those feelings, wanting them to last forever.

When we feel bad, dissatisfaction and anger can take over.

In an attempt to control or suppress this ever-changing mind, we often face unintended consequences.

Yet, it’s important to remember that the mind’s fluctuations are rooted in the body.

Unlike in martial arts, where the goal is to subdue the opponent’s body through precision and efficiency, we cannot forcefully overpower the body to address the mind.

This makes the martial art of the mind fundamentally different from traditional martial arts.

For this reason, I prefer to call it Martial Art—singular—because it focuses on mastering the internal, rather than external, struggle.
